Starting to Get Ready

At first, I was super bummed out

about the things I had 

knit, 

collected, 

been given....

  

But then I went through everything,

and realized that

except for the totally awesome

Gift Wrap Romper

with custom made buttons from

Tessa Ann

and the yarn from DiscoBaby Knits

(Stargazer)

is very gender neutral,

and will totally work for a

BOY! 

I have things knit up

in Dear Husband's Sawyer Boy

(which was meant for a boy, but I like it for both genders),

Nurturing Threads Sprout,

and

Nurturing Threads Iced Giraffes. 

I am not sure what I plan to do with 

the romper 

(which was knit with yarn from Western Sky Knits)

or the DiscoBaby Knits yarn.

They're SUPER girly.

All of the diapers I got will work...

but not the covers. 

Have to get some boyish colors.

And we saved some clothes from Monkey,

but only things we really loved.

Plus, the seasons are off. 

Monkey is an April baby....

I guess some serious selling will 

start happening soon. 

Crafty

I started a quilt this week!

I've cut a good bit of the fabric, and I think I might start sewing today.

I came here intending to share pictures with you, 

but the battery in my camera is dead.

 

I'm also waiting on some yarn,

going to knit some more woolies for 

our baby, wherever the baby is. 

Unless the baby we're praying for turns out to be a boy,

in which case I will be selling the woolies 

and buying boyish colorways!

I also have fallen in love with some baby boy fabric,

and I know someone who is having a boy,

so I might sew a baby quilt too. 

Also, a friend who is pregnant 

asked me to sew her a hospital gown or two

from a tutorial we found.

I will have a bunch of projects to share soon!

Holidays fast approaching...

I am finally getting over that cold, though I still sound funny. Woohoo! And can I just say that I love this time of year?!

Halloween with my one eyed, two horned monster was fabulous! We went trick or treating with some friends from Neverland (Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, a Pirate and a Pirate Princess). After we picked some  candy to stay, we put the rest outside and the Great Pumpkin took it and left a very fun "Let's Go Fishing Game!" Last year he brought us Cootie Bugs.

Next up: Breaking Dawn comes out on MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND! (My birthday is November 19th). I know exactly what I will be doing to celebrate! After that, Thanksgiving (already planning our dinner) and getting ready for Christmas! The Nana (my mom) is coming out for Christmas this year! I am hoping that our big Santa gift will be on sale on Black Friday - if it is, I might brave the crowds.

This year, I am making some homemade gifts as well: a knit hoodie for Monkey, gift baskets for the in laws, and probably a fun movie basket or something for my brother (that he can enjoy with his girlfriend). I would tell you what I am making Kevin and the Nana, but they read here so I can't!

I also have some amazing adoption news to share!

The expectant mother that we have emailed a few times would like to speak to us! We are working on scheduling a call with Lifetime. We are so excited! And nervous! But excited! Please continue to keep her in your thoughts as she makes this difficult decision, as well as us!

Crafty Me!

So, guess what!? (Nope, the quilt still isn't done...don't judge me.)

I have been bitten by the knitting bug again! And I went on a yarn shopping spree. Beautiful, squishalicious, yummy yarn. And I have pictures.

This colorway is called "Sprout," and is dyed by Nurturing Threads. The yarn is Aria Organic Merino. I heart their work, really and truly. I am still undecided on what this will become - either a romper, or a pants/sweater/hat set.

This one is called "Iced Giraffes," which matches an adorable fabric by the same name. It is also by Nurturing Threads, and is also Aria Organic Merino. And it has now been turned into this:

Newborn pants! I am also working on a soaker out of this yarn, and possibly a hat.

This is called "Tristan & Isolde." I got it not only because it's beautimous, but also because I like that story. Sue me. It's dyed by Mosaic Moon on (whom I also love) on Organic Bulky Merino!

This is one of my most favorite colorways. It's Mosaic Moon's "Copper Patina." I have been coveting it since Monkey was a baby, and I finally got my paws on it! I have not a clue what it will be, but whatever it is will be awesome.

I also have a couple of more gorgeous colorways on the way to me, and I will share them with you when they arrive. Plus a few that I am coveting and will find a way to own at some point!

Busy Bees!

Things have just been moving right along for us!

Monkey is really enjoying school - drop offs are less tearful now, and when we pick him up, he says "You camed back!" We can see such a change in him socially, and that's what we were going for with this part time school experiment. He plays more cooperatively with kids rather than near them and absolutely loves his teachers, Ms. Angie and Ms. Sara.

Kevin had the opportunity to come with us to TumbleBugs this week. Monkey was quite the show off for his Daddy. The next time Mr Monkey can come, I will make sure he has the camera. Monkey has so much fun - they are learning gymnastics positions (tucks, pikes, straddles, TaDa's - straightening up at the end of a skill, and C-Body's - the rounded bent knee position before the TaDa!). They also do climbing exercises, forward rolls, hold them selves up on the bar, hang from the bar and lots of other things.

Kevin is also doing very well with his training. Air Traffic Control is certainly a lot more than either of us thought, but he is really enjoying it. Minus the flip-flopping schedule every other week.

I am trying to catch up on my sewing and such. I have several projects I want to start for Christmas. I started decorating for Fall as well...I think it might be my favorite season.

Update, Catch Up, Catch All

Late again, that's me! I have great plans though, what with my new laptop to begin posting more consistently. With that said, let the post begin!

We had Monkey's second birthday party at a farm in Maryland. It was great! He had tons of fun with his friends and the animals. He is still talking about it three months later, which seems to be a long time for a 2 year old.



At the end of April, we moved to New Mexico....It's very different here, but seems alright so far. I have some reservations about the house we were assigned, but we are doing our best to make it feel more like home. We have a great yard though, and that is wonderful for Monkey. In between it all, Monkey is 85% potty trained! Night time is the only questionable time. He also had his first and second hair cut. I miss the curls, and he looks like such a big boy now.



I have not caught up on my crafting, but I have plans to start doing that as well. I did knit a tiny gown for a twin lost to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. A sad thing to knit for, but I wanted her parents to have something she can where when she is finally born. I plan to finish the shorties I started (about ten rows left), and then probably post them and some longies for sale. There are no little ones in sight yet, and these are toddler sized, so I dont want to hang on to them for years. I also plan to start Christmas gifts soon, so that I can get them done and not feel rushed.

Recently learned to knit/sew and have a newfound craftiness. Have lots of projects I want to complete, but never seems to be enough time.
I stay at home with the Monkey and plan to keep it that way.
Trying to become more home-makerly-like with the cooking and cleaning and decorating and sewing and whatnot.
